Lent Day 23

Good morning! I hope you are enjoying your Saturday!

Today, our Scriptures are 1 Peter 1:3 and Colossians 3:1-17.

Today, we are taking about living hope. The disciples thought that all was lost when Jesus was crucified, died, and was buried. Their world was spinning out of control! They were paralyzed with fear.  But God keeps his promises, including the one where Jesus would rise in the 3rd day!

When we walk in His steps, we live life with a hope that overcomes all of the circumstances of our life. No matter what we face, the hope, joy, peace, and love of God should still flow through and from us.

What challenges in your life require a living hope of Jesus today?

If I'm completely honest and transparent with you, the challenges and unknowns facing The United Methodist Church and Christianity as a whole, in the coming months and years and the impact it will have on our local churches, EUMC included, require a living hope in Jesus today for me (and I'm sure many others)! It would be easy to let fear and despair freeze everything up until I know for sure what's going to happen, but that will never be a reality, knowing with certainty what's going to happen. That is why we must persevere and run the race before us with the living hope of Jesus encouraging and lifting us up along the way!

Blessings,

Pastor Jesse
