About Us

UMW is international and stands for United Methodist Women.  At Emmanuel, it is the ‘Women’s Group’ of the church.  The main goal of UMW is to support mission work and to support programs for women and families.

Women are of all ages are always invited. We welcome women to help with our programs also. If you attend Emmanuel and would like to be more involved, come to one of our meetings or see Deb Carrell.

We meet on the second Tues. of the month at 7:00 pm-usually downstairs in Fellowship hall at the church.  At regular meetings, we participate in a Bible study.  However, we do not meet every month.  Please check the bulletin or calendar.

Apples of Gold

Are you a woman who longs for a mentor, someone to nurture you? Would you love to hear how other women have worked through the issues of marriage, raising children, making a warm, loving home and living a life of joy and purpose?

Perhaps you are an older woman longing to build relationships with precious younger women. Younger women bring joy and vitality to our lives. We, in turn, have gifts of love and training to offer them. It is a WIN-WIN situation! Mentoring relationships build the church by bringing generations together. Often we have differing viewpoints on certain issues. Discussing them in the framework of the Word of God gives understanding and compassion.

Proverbs 25:11 says, "A Word fitly spoken is like apples of gold in a setting of silver." Have you ever considered the impact of that verse? Words appropriately spoken, advice aptly given can encourage, help and instruct.

In Titus 2, older women are admonished not only to live a godly life, but to teach and train younger women.

These two passages together form the basis for the program, Apples of Gold.

The six-week program seeks to encourage the hearts of women, to help us draw closer to Christ in our relationships with our family and friends, and to serve others with a joyful spirit.
